Lol it basically says how Nicki has been able to branch out and stay true to herself. How working with other artist helped her establish herself in the industry, and also how fans of those other artist were able to embrace Nicki too. With Gaga, she has secluded herself from other artist, and her collaborations havent been as successful. How Gaga is too pretentious, and that her music comes off as work. And how BTW was too much of a departure from her other work for the general public to really embrace it. Also how people can be Britney, Rihanna, Katy fans and also like Nicki; but when it comes to Gaga its different. Its either Britney or Gaga, etc.
My favorite part of the article: The differences between Minaj and Gaga are blindingly apparent in this regard: Gaga tried desperately from the start to distinguish herself from her contemporaries (as well as predecessors, but ask Madonna how well that one’s going). It’s already been mentioned how this has had a polarizing effect on her potential fans, but the risk she also took (which ultimately didn’t pay off) was in evolving her music too quickly.
